Tarot and Spirits: A Halloween Evening at The Pendle Inn

Updated: Nov 23, 2025

This Halloween, I had the honour of hosting a tarot evening at the Pendle Inn in Barley. A cosy, atmospheric pub nestled at the foot of Pendle Hill, a place steeped in folklore and mystery. With the fire crackling and the night drawing in, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect for reading tarot on one of the most spiritually charged nights of the year.

Pendle is most famously known for the Pendle Witch Trials of 1612 when twelve individuals mostly women, were accused of witchcraft and ten were executed. Their story is one of fear, misunderstanding, and persecution. As I sat there reading cards just a stone’s throw from where these events unfolded, I couldn’t help but feel a deep ancestral pull. I’ve always felt that my own lineage includes women who were misunderstood, feared, or even punished for their intuitive gifts. In many ways, offering tarot readings in Pendle felt like reclaiming something sacred – giving voice to what was once silenced.

The people who came for readings made the night even more special. One couple travelled over two hours just to sit with me, which truly touched me. Then there was a man who was attending a family party at the pub who popped his head in – curious, but clearly a bit sceptical. Still, he took a seat, opened himself up to the experience, and trusted me to guide him through the cards. Watching someone new to tarot connect with it in real time is always something magical. The room was filled with a mix of energy – spiritual seekers, sceptics, and people simply drawn in by the intrigue of Halloween night. Each reading held its own unique rhythm and story. It wasn’t just an evening of tarot; it was a moment of connection – to the past, to spirit, and to each other.

Thank you to everyone who came and shared your energy, and to the spirits of Pendle – we haven’t forgotten you.
